Paper Abstract:      This research aims to explore perceptions, expectation, issues and challenges facing human resources (HR) executives about e-learning, specifically in management development and training of employees in Turkish firms. To fulfill this objective, the authors conducted semi-structured, in-depth interviews with two HR executives. Findings of the content analysis of the interviews are summarized under the themes of perceptions and expectations of e-learning & management development. According to the findings, e-learning is a new concept for many firms. Therefore, they lack experiences with e-learning in the field of HR education and development. A blended approach in which e-learning is supported by some face-to-face interactions is mostly preferred by the participants. HR executives highlighted that the content needs to be relevant. Because of the nature of learning online, e-learners need to be self-disciplined and highly motivated. This study is the preliminary part of a larger quantitative survey study which is planned to be finished by the end of 2007.
