Paper Abstract:      With the growth of web-based systems, usability has gained visibility in the Human-Computer Interaction area (HCI). Usability evaluation methods consist of systematic processes of data collection with the purpose of analyzing how users handle a product in order to execute tasks in a computer environment. The present research aims at analyzing the usability of a remote learning system in its initial development phase, using a quantitative usability evaluation method through Markov models. These models allow a series of measures of interest to be calculated and they have been successfully utilized in the evaluation of computing and communication systems, but they have not been much used in the evaluation of system usability.
