Paper Abstract:      Visually induced motion sickness (VIMS) is caused by sensory conflict, the disagreement between vergence and visual accommodation while observing stereoscopic images. VIMS was measured by psychological and physiological methods. We herein measured the head acceleration and body sway during exposure to a conventional three-dimensional (3D) movie and a 3D images that were constructed by POWER 3DTM. Young subjects wore a head mount display (HMD) and maintained the Romberg posture for 60 s. Body sway and head acceleration were measured, and the Simulator Sickness Questioner (SSQ) was completed immediately afterward. For the SSQ sub-scores and each index for stabilograms, we employed Wilcoxon signed rank tests. Reduction of body sway could be evaluated by an index during exposure to the later 3D movie on the HMD.
