Paper Abstract:      The digital age has changed both the nature of resources and information and has also transformed basic social and economic enterprises. In addition, the amount of information and access to this information has grown exponentially. With the advent of the information explosion society, higher order thinking skills (HOTs) are becoming more and more important. How can students’ HOTs be raised in such a society? WebQuest, an approach to organizing Internet-based learning tasks which requires students to exercise information seeking, analyzing, and synthesizing strategies, seems to be a workable way to raise students’ HOTs. However, its effectiveness has not yet been examined experimentally. This paper reports on an ongoing project that empirically investigates the effects of WebQuest in promoting students’ HOTs. The research design, participants, instruments, and data analyses of this project are described in this paper.
