Paper Abstract:      After the public failure of the UK e-universities in early 2000, researchers attributed this failure to variety of issues including poor business models, branding, disruptive technologies, lack of organizational structure that accommodates such challenges, and failure to integrate a blended approach. The conditions have since changed and are set to change further. Innovations in computing, connectivity, blended virtual reality, quantum computing, artificial and synthetic intelligence are set to dominate the next generation of technological advances providing new opportunities for the resurrection of e-universities. This paper looks at academic research, publications, key innovations and employs reflective analysis to project implications of technological trends on Higher Education and the next generations of e-universities. In this context, higher education is bound to witness changes that go beyond e-learning. The analysis suggests that the impact would be profound with opportunities for branded and well-established universities to dominate, specialization and customization, with ethical implication on the industry and society.
