Paper Abstract:
|
In this paper the ways in which older users engage with online local government services are explored utilising a
theoretical framework based on information searching concepts developed by Bates (2002) social actor network theory
emerging out of the social informatics discipline (Sawyer, 2005; Sawyer & Tyworth, 2006) transliteracy (Thomas,
Joseph, Lacetti, Mason, Mills, Perril et al., 2007), digital citizenship (Prensky,2001) and Kilpatrick & Hazzlewood (2001)
third age learner model for internet interaction. A small exploratory case study has provided the basis for further
collaborative research with local government website designers on consultation processes involving older users. |
