Paper Abstract:      The integration of e-learning in Higher Education has extended in the last few years but it is still not a common standard for the teachings at Universities and Colleges. One of the main reasons for this is the lack of teachersÂ’ knowledge and skills (Pelgrum 2001) in their role as gatekeepers for the didactical settings and the learning modalities (Goodwin & Oyler 2008). Due to the fact that skill enhancement is a lifelong learning process and because of the permanent development of educational technologies there is still a need of further education and training course programs at Universities. As a perfect addition to these educational arrangements the allocation of personal information and learning options as in a Community of Practice could initiate fruitful processes by arguing as peers in profitable discussions without or at least with less restrictions (e.g. in which the participants get a critical view on their own courses, are able to define methods of resolution for existing problems, achieve knowledge in educational media and didactical skills for the implementation of e-learning etc.). If professionals are willing and motivated to reflect their personal interpretive patterns and to discuss about their teaching concepts it leads to a successful program for a continuing human resource development for academic staff.
