Paper Abstract:      The authors present a novel e-Voting system called “Dual Vote”, which couples the strength of electronic voting with the traditional pen and paper user interface (UI). Through the use of pen and paper as a voting medium the system addresses usability problems and provides a verifiable audit trail; two issues which have afflicted modern e-voting solutions. The paper presents the implementation details of the Dual Vote system, which is mainly comprised of an inductive sensor array and a capacitive-based electronic pen. An evaluation is also conducted which demonstrates the high level of usability as well as assessing the technical competency of the Dual Vote system.
