Paper Abstract:
|
We describe the digitization process for the archive of the National Theatre of Greece. Many of the problems we encountered in this project are common to any digitization of cultural archives. We discuss all the steps in the design and development of such a digital archive, from the planning stage to the completion of a database driven web application for general public use. We argue that having alternative forms of the metadata, such as XML, minimizes the startup delays and also increases the preservability of the data. |
