Paper Abstract:      The term "Ambient Media" is often used to refer to ambient marketing or ambient advertising. The perception of ambient media therefore relates primarily to static, so-called out-of-home or outdoor advertising means, those which are deployed in people’s direct environments, usually that of the target audience of the advertising. In this paper we attempt to place the term Ambient Media in a new taxonomic context and rearrange a number of relevant concepts. One still relatively new branch of ambient media is interactive ambient entertainment – entertainment which is realised with the help of interactive, ambient media. In this paper we put forward an interesting approach, which is to be found in the area of urban screening – a large-screen projection onto urban surfaces which we call Digital HousePaint. Such projections are increasingly being used as visual elements at events and concerts.
