Paper Abstract:      The research was undertaken having in consideration two hypotheses. The first hypothesis is that integration of virtual learning environment and integrated developing environment for programming in Java language will contribute in improving the efficiency and quality in learning because of the “hands on approach”, what the learners learn can be tested and further learned at the same time. The second hypothesis is that the designed simple graphical user interface of the learning environment will contribute in facilitating the use of the environment, improving the results of the learning process, increasing the user-satisfaction and motivation while learning that implicates improving the efficiency of learning to program in Java. The goal of the research was to investigate what are the possibilities for improving learning JAVA by creating an e-learning interactive environment. An analysis of traditional method of learning programming language and virtual learning environments has been realized. The usability of the created virtual environment was reviewed, by testing users using questionnaires in order to identify advantages and disadvantages of learning Java using the developed environment. A research to design a simple and efficient user interface will be done to ensure the usability of the environment. This way we expect the Java learning environment to be self sufficient to achieve its objective.
