Paper Abstract:      The disposition to lifelong learning and media literacy have become vital assets in information society. Today, almost all workers need to be able to use information and communications technologies (ICT). Consequently, schools have been challenged increasingly to teach these skills. Using ICT is part of the answer, improving classical education and providing flexible learning solutions to people throughout their life. Widespread digital literacy, however, is vital. To meet these challenges and opportunities the team of the Bayerisches Realschulnetz (BRN: Bavarian Realschule Network; www.realschule.bayern.de) started BRN-Moodle as a project in 2007 to provide a suitable learning management system (LMS) to all Bavarian secondary modern schools.
