Paper Abstract:      This paper presents experiences from the first steps of a project being conducted with secondary schools, aiming to create a meaningful, feasible and motivating concept of mobile learning based on the needs and ideas of the particular schools. The project consists of different phases and activities involving students, teachers, principals, and the curricular boundaries set by educational authorities. As the first phase, general goals were defined with participating schools and municipalities, after which a workshop with students was carried out in order to get their views on using mobile learning to support motivation and to allow new types of learning. We report on the methods and outcomes of these steps and discuss the future phases of the project.
