Paper Abstract:
|
The aim of this paper is to investigate the effects of culture on the usability of user interfaces through applying a cultural usability model. This newly-modified and culturally-specific model is derived from the existing literature. A series of experiment were designed, developed and validated to be used as an instrument for analysing the impact of culture on user interface use. The research concludes with a demonstration of the importance of cultural markers, cultural factors, and usability guidelines for designing a Saudi user interface, and shows how usability and user satisfaction can be improved through employing a culturally-specific usability model for designing a Saudi user interface. |
