Paper Abstract:      This paper presents the evaluation study of a touch-sensing GUI implementation used to control a scientific instrument, that is a Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM). Touch-sensing is a solid and well-known technology that replaces the mouse with finger-touch computing and guarantees a level of interaction and precision similar to many analog devices. The idea is to bring our expertise in controlling SEM devices within this field, trying to find and testing a new control alternative. The presented technology is independent from the support used for touch-sensing.
