Paper Abstract:
|
To provide a collaborative authoring and learning environment we have setup and extended an XML-centric content management system. It enables a team of authors to work simultaneously on different sections of the same technical document. Each document in the system is treated as a hierarchical collection of sections or web pages which are being held on a web server. The authors are supported by basic WYSIWYG and versioning functions. Using XML/XSLT technology the entire document including hierarchical document structure can be exported to WORD for further processing. A commenting tool, in this context, provides functions to make annotations to existing web pages. This paper describes two easy-to-use visual commenting tools which may enhance the collaboration between both authors and authorized readers of the documents processed under the control of our web based collaborative authoring system. |
