Paper Abstract:      Former immigrant workers from Turkey have settled down in Germany. They have established communities within German cities, but still, they are confronted with unequal opportunities. Lacking equality is also manifested by the “digital divide” which seems to further amplify the gap between the German Turkish minority and the mainstream society. This paper presents results from a long-time action research study conducted in an inter-cultural computer club for schoolchildren and their parents. From our experiences we conclude that the application of ICT in the club has to be negotiated and analyzed carefully with regard to the differing needs of the members. When using ICT in order to produce artifacts in cross-cultural project teams, specific roles emerge which are mainly defined by sub-group affiliation. Turkish women within the club face serious challenges in finding their socio-cultural identity.
