Paper Abstract:      Wireless sensor and actor networks (WSANs) have been heralded as one of the most promising technologies in the 21st century as they have the potential to serve many and diverse applications. In this work, a case study is presented where a WSAN is used to monitor a farmland and to detect tractor overturns. The application described can be accessed via the internet and can alert users about possible tractor accidents. To implement the application, the USEME framework is proposed because it allows higher levels of abstraction and facilitates programming. The architecture and functionality of our proposal is described.
