Paper Abstract:
|
Attention is a core cognitive function, crucial for learning, decision-making, and performing everyday tasks. In recent
years, the demand for effective attention training tools has increased, particularly in educational and clinical contexts. This
project introduces BEAM (Brain Engagement and Attention Management), a web-based platform designed to support
therapists in delivering personalized cognitive training to patients, with a particular focus on attention and working memory.
The system allows professionals to assign, customize, and monitor interactive tasks. A set of over 10 configurable games,
recommended by specialists or discovered in the literature review was developed, each targeting different attention
subdomains through visual and interactive stimuli. The platform also provides robust support for therapist oversight,
including performance tracking, and recommendation mechanisms. A pilot evaluation involved collaboration with
therapists and initial testing with children. Early feedback from professionals highlighted BEAM's potential to fill a gap in
the availability of tools for guided cognitive training, offering a flexible and intuitive experience. Preliminary interactions
with young users revealed high levels of engagement and concentration while performing the tasks. |
