Paper Abstract:      We present adac – the first working prototype of a tangent-linear assembler code generator. This work complements the development of a large number of tools for automatic differentiation of numerical codes written in various high-level programming languages. From a user’s perspective the novel aspect lies in the independence of adac of the programming languages used to implement the numerical model as long as the original program can be transformed into assembler by a suitable compiler front-end. Our current focus is hereby on GCC. Links to a number of working examples are given.
