Paper Abstract:      Software permeates all aspects of modern life and is thus prone to abuse, either in the form of generic malware or as a targeted weapon against systems. Whilst some research and publications exist on this broad area of ‘cyber weapons’, the solicitation of public opinion through surveys is lacking. This paper presents the results of a questionnaire pertaining to attitudes and understanding of cyber weapons. The results of the study suggest that there is a significant difference between respondents employed in the ‘military’, ‘academia’, or ‘other’ professions.
