Paper Abstract:      This paper presents a comparative study between two web services architectures: SOAP Web Services and REST in a scenario of real time monitoring of equipment’s distributed in a network. Based on the ATAM method, the analysis of the remote monitoring of hardware and software events in ATMs was made and could be verified the importance of the performance quality attribute inside the business objectives. From the development of two simulators that could represent the business application proposed, one based on SOAP and the other based on REST, measurements and tests were made with the objective of getting information to help and justify the architectural decision to the proposed application.
