Paper Abstract:
|
Developing a software product is a complex activity that involves many uncertainties. The large amount of information dealt by the project manager and the frequent changes in the scope and planning of the project make this activity more challenging. In addition, the manager may need to consult other departments in the organization during the execution of a software project. This paper describes an alternative approach to project planning considering the integration of software project activities with the activities that take part in the organizations common activity workflow. Also, it considers the possibility of simulating software projects scenarios by using Petri nets. Their mathematically defined structure enables the software project plan to be formally analyzed and its behavior simulation offers the possibility of detecting unwanted behaviors. A software tool was designed to help managers in project management. |
