Paper Abstract:      The tourism is one of the most profitable sectors in the world, bringing more revenue, employment and development to the visited sites. Recently, the scientific community has been developing applications using the concepts of mobile and ubiquitous computing in this area of tourism. This development has brought the concepts of mobile tourism and, more recently, of ubiquitous tourism. In this context, in the present article we propose a Ubiquitous Tourist Guide that is context-aware. Among the context information used, we highlight tourists’ profiles, their needs and restrictions. In this work, we developed a general model of an Electronic Tourist Guide and a specific prototype for the Caminhos de Pedra itinerary, a touristic region in the city of Bento Gonçalves in the Rio Grande do Sul state of Brazil. We conducted an evaluation of usability and acceptance, employing the developed prototype with real users. The results show a good acceptance of our prototype. Therefore, we now better understand tourist needs, personalization and optimization of the tourist experience.
