Paper Abstract:      ICT literacy is a requisite ability necessary for children living in this modern society. Mobile phone has become a dominant ICT tool for children. However, as it is clear from the fact that online access has sometimes leads children to crimes, its effective and safe usage in education has not been found. Many Japanese local governments prohibit elementary and junior high school pupils from bringing mobile phones to school. And yet, mobile phones are the basis of ICT society, and it is important for them to become. We believe that mobile phones have a possibility of being used in class and for fieldworks. In this paper, we discuss the experiments performed in an elementary school in Tokyo, using mobile phones as a tool for taking pictures that can be shared in classrooms and fieldwork, to prove usefulness of mobile phone for children of elementary school. We got excellent result and proved that mobile phone is a good tool for not only ICT literacy education but also several subjects in elementary school.
