Paper Abstract:      In this paper, we propose a novel P2P based design and implementation of the location-dependent content sharing system ‘MapWiki’. MapWiki is an Wiki system on the digital map that user can add or update ‘word-of-mouth’ information through web browsers. Our former implementation of MapWiki was based on legacy client-server architecture. In this implementation, there were mainly three issues that must be solved, scalability problem, management cost and privacy problem. To solve these issues, we developed a P2P based location-dependent content sharing mechanism called ‘Diploid’ and re-implemented MapWiki on Diploid. Diploid takes low-spec devices like sensors into consideration and treats frequently updated, privacy-related information on a P2P network. Our prototype implementation proved that the scalability of entire system is vastly improved on the P2P architecture.
