Paper Abstract:      Distance education is a reality today. Many educational organizations have adopted this approach, and for some of them, it has been the only format offered. Distance education is often compared with traditional education; however, due to the advantages and disadvantages of both approaches, it is very common to find the two formats complementing each other. Rather than simply comparing the two, another important method is the blended learning approach, which exploits the advantages and minimizes the disadvantages of each approach. This work presents an environment of distance education by way of a case study of a successful software development course that was offered to a large Brazilian financial organization. Course data were collected and analyzed. The outcome was generally satisfactory, but this study offers suggestions for some additional improvements.
