Paper Abstract:      The educational institutions in their academic management make use of learning management systems. These systems contain a large volume of information about the activities and resources used by teachers and students. This information in most cases is not exploited to the maximum as if they do company through business intelligence. Business intelligence aims to identify patterns of behavior found in the data, applying methodologies, models and data mining techniques. The application of these tools to an educational model allows to discover in time factors that directly impact the performance of students. For this work, the application of the method of knowledge discovery in databases where patterns will be identified is considered, the information will be processed in such a way that is novel, useful and above all understandable. The application of this method of data mining and with the identification of patterns the institutions will be able to apply corrective in the academic management and it will be possible to improve the educational quality.
