Paper Abstract:      Although location-based services (LBS) have provided users with much convenience in accessing information while on the move, it can be a concern if it exposes information on users’ lifestyle habits, behaviors and movements. It appears that one’s privacy can be invaded by such mobile devices when users are able to share and retrieve information relating to one’s current whereabouts. Drawing on the challenges and issues on users’ privacy concerns, this study investigates the effect of privacy design settings on the adoption of mobile social media. The findings showed that with privacy setting mechanisms in place, users’ privacy concerns have not significantly influence the adoption of LBS. In fact, users’ adoption of privacy settings has shown positive impact on users’ adoption of LBS.
