Paper Abstract:      Digital competence is one of the eight key competences for lifelong learning. In a generic way, it can be defined as the set of knowledge, skills, attitudes, abilities and strategies that make citizens capable of using digital technologies in a creative, critical, meaningful and responsible way for different personal and professional activities. In the specific case of Higher Education (HE) students, the idea prevails that, because they were born in the digital age, they are digitally competent. However, several studies show that this is not the case, indicating that, in general, students find it difficult to capitalize on the potential of digital technologies for their personal, academic and professional development, which has an impact on their employability and work prospects. The purpose of this study is threefold: i) to examine the digital competence of a group of HE students (N=411)
