Paper Abstract:      In this paper, it is briefly introduced and outlined a multidimensional approach for evaluating multimodal user interfaces based on set of well-known HCI techniques. Each dimension focus on the problem from a different perspective: (i) the user’s perspective, which is expressed as views on the product obtained through an inquiry-based approach; (ii) the specialist’s perspective, which is expressed by a specialist analysis of the user performance during the usability evaluation; and (iii) the usability community’s perspective, which is expressed by a specialist analysis, based on standards inspection. A more reliable and complete product appraisal results from overlayering these dimensions. The main objective of the study was to investigate the need for adapting a multidimensional evaluation approach for desktop applications to the context of multimodal devices and applications.
