Paper Abstract:      In Design there is a need to characterise the user during the evaluation phase, however the methods usually employed are not statistically validated. In the area of Consumer Behaviour, there is also the need to characterise the user and to evaluate artefacts, in this case, products to be consumed. Some of the methods used to characterise users, employed in the area of Consumer Behaviour, have statistically validated studies that prove their efficiency. From a parallel between the areas, the work proposed herein sought to verify if there would be evidences that statistically validated characterisation techniques would bring improvement to the Design Evaluation Process. For this, one experiment was conceived where an evaluation instrument, created based on the statistically validated methods and techniques for characterisation of the user, was compared with an instrument of evaluation of artefacts, specifically of the area of Game Design. The results showed evidences that the instruments were convergent on their results, and that there were benefits to incorporate knowledge from the consumer Behaviour area to Design process, specifically to the evaluation phase.
