Paper Abstract:      This paper presents a new approach for representation of texture features with orientation and periodic patterns which exist in most texture contents except a few textures with random patterns. The texture feature representation can be achieved through an orientation and periodic based coordinate system in which many different patterns can be represented with a mathematical model (Gabor function). The system is applicable to efficiently identify a variety of texture patterns for texture image classification, segmentation, and retrieval. For experiments, 76 images in Brodatz album are selected and used to be classified on the given coordinate to show its efficiency and intuitiveness for further works.
