Paper Abstract:      This study investigated different types of students’ interactive behaviors in a handheld Jigsaw cooperative learning classroom. A quasi-experimental research design was conducted to investigate the effects of using handheld in promoting cooperative interaction. Two intact classes of fourth-year students from a five-year junior nursing college participated in the experiment. Our findings showed that students had more cognitive interactions beneficial for learning in the handheld supported environment. Regulative activities and affective utterances also occurred more often than the non-handheld used environment. The reason handhelds may affect cooperative interaction is thus discussed.
