Paper Abstract:      Several projects for the development of e-learning platforms and e-learning content funded by public investors are currently reaching the end of their development phase; as a consequence, a market strategy has to be implemented to ensure sustainability of the respective findings and developments. Research has been done to build business models for centralized platforms that offer an all-in-one solution of e-learning systems. However, current technical research concentrates on the provision of e-learning Web services to make platforms more flexible and accessible for learners. Market strategies for these distributed systems differ in many respects from what has been described by authors in the field of business models for e-learning for the centralized platforms so far. This paper discusses the economical perspectives of establishing Web services in the area of e-learning.
