Paper Abstract:      From several online resources DNA-sequence data is available. In using these resources, none of them offer intuitive interactions. It is, moreover, inconvenient to use multiple resources to find data for a DNA sequence. This research investigates whether an interaction mechanism from another domain can help solve these existing usability issues. We show that the interaction mechanism of Google Maps is suitable for more inclusive and intuitive DNA sequence exploration. Applying an interaction mechanism to another domain has the potential to lead to new insights and to develop new, and better operational mental models. It is important though to consider all factors that make the interaction mechanism successful in order to apply it to the target domain.
