Paper Abstract:      The aim of this paper is to propose an Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) tool to extract information stored in a HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) and transform them to be loaded in a Data Warehouse for secondary purposes. This tool is based on a semi-automatic conceptual framework described in a previous work that maps the CDA elements with the data warehouse dimensional model primitives. A tool has been developed using the XSLT style sheet language that converts an original CDA XML-based document to an output XML document that can be easily loaded in the Data Warehouse. A case study based on vital signs observed during laboratory tests is also provided to demonstrate the feasibility of the approach proposed.
