Paper Abstract:      The paper presents a new method for generation of canopy height model from LiDAR data. The method arranges the input point-cloud into a grid with resolution that corresponds to the desired resolution of the output model. The segmentation of grid-cells is achieved using watershed algorithm and watershed regions are further classified according to the reflection number of contained points. Digital terrain model and digital surface model on segmented grid-cells are constructed and points lying between them are recognized as vegetation points. According to the results, the accuracy of proposed fully automated approach is approximately 90%.
